Glacier Cave Vârtop is known by many names appear  on s wonderful terraces  or  Ghe t Arul House of Stone  and is the place to find the oldest trace of Neanderthal man from Romania.
The name of the cave comes from the plateau below that are shelf Vârtop, Vartoapele the hollows that form in karst areas.
Vârtop Glacier is located in the municipality Arieseni, Alba, Bihor Mountains. Following the road reach the Dry Valley about 12 km from Garda Garda de Sus village up in the hamlet of Stone House. Entering the cave is known by locals for hundreds of years, but it was not mentioned in scientific papers until 1955, when a team led by Professor Marcian Bleahu penetrated deep cave galleries.
